ROCKDALE HEALTH SYSTEMS CENTER
Network Infrastructure Upgrade
PearlNet Designed, Planned and implemented the Upgrade of Rockdale Hospital's Network Infrastructure. The Project included the acquisition of all network hardware and software, network installation and test, user training and the phased migration of over 200 users to the upgraded network. Due to the complexity and the unique operational demands of Rockdale's network operating system, PearlNet conducted a server and workstation application portability analysis to determine operating system to application compatibility. The results of the analysis highlighted the requirements for the Novell / Windows hybrid network structure required at Rockdale Hospital. The final phase of the project involved the coordination of user migration to the new system in an approach that minimized the impact of daily hospital operations. The Network Infrastructure Upgrade Project met the following objectives:
- Install a network and computer infrastructure designed to take advantage of increasingly sophisticated applications in medical services and management technologies and emergent technology/trends such as client-server applications.
- Allow for a more efficient workforce due to upgraded network performance and reduced network downtime.
- Enhance the ease of infrastructure maintainability and trouble-shooting.
- Implement the project in a cooperative effort with the hospitals IS Staff in an effort to reduce outside resources and enhance the hospital's IS staff's network skill set.
